Okay, funnest morning for me in a Long Time! I decided I am hanging up my marathon shoes and just going to run 5k's with my kids from now on, it's WAY funner!!!  Not really but honestly, I am so darn proud of my kiddos right now.  Today we woke up early and got the boys up preparatory for the Salem Days Family Fun Run!!!  My cute little 6 year old has gone out a couple of times this week and ran up and down the block for some "training" in pursuit of his 1 mile race today!!!  He and Tyler took off for the out and back course so Evan, Jack and I ran around for a minute trying to get in places that we could snap some pics!  You should see how stinking cute he looked running with Tyler.  He has been working on his form and I must say I am impressed.  He finished at 10:13 taking 6th in his age group!!  It was a pretty competitive race. I couldn't believe all of the people out today running.  I was so proud of him for running and sticking with it and better yet, he had a great time running and now says he wants to keep running races, YEAH!!!  After Kael finished it was time for Tyler and I to run the 5k with Evan.  We geared up and off we went.  The first mile is a good up hill stretch and Evan didn't stop once.  He has also been sick this week with a nasty cold so that meant NO TRAINING and a little harder time breathing.  We got to the top of the hill and started down canal road and hit the 1 mile marker and Evan said "NO WAY IT'S ONLY BEEN A MILE", we had to laugh a bit.  Tyler and I just started talking and kept trucking a long and he hung in there all the way.  About mile 2 he got a side ache so we coached him through that and kept going.  There was a water stop at mile 2.5 so he grabbed a quick drink of water and got a 2nd wind and took off leaving Tyler and I for a minute.  So........we caught up with him and kept running until we hit the last stretch which included a hill followed by down hill (of course).  He booked it up the hill and then went full speed down the hill and...............of course; this made him sick to his stomach.  We literally had a tenth of a mile to go and he felt like he was going to throw up and couldn't breathe.  SO...........we took a mini walk break and then when he started up again, he literally took off so fast, we really couldn't keep up with him.  He crossed the finish line at 28:16 averaging a 9:03 mile!! I am so darn proud of him for doing this and he had a really good time!! We are already talking about finding some other 5k's coming up for us to do again!!  It was a FUN FUN morning and something that I look forward to continuing! Yeah!!!!

Okay so your running experience sounds a lot like when we ran a 5k with McKay. But, he did throw up with like a .10 to go. It was so funny!

Glad you guys had fun!

Hi Kellie!!! SO funny! Truth be told, Evan actually did cross the finish line and leaned over the flags and heaved. A little throw up came out but nothing too major. Then, he just sat and shook his head for the next 20 minutes saying "I can't believe I just did that". Of course, Tyler was a proud dad saying "Hey, if you throw up after a 5k, you know you pushed yourself to your max, WAY TO GO", funny funny!! IT was such a fun morning. We are going to do another one with him over Labor day weekend so we'll see how it goes. I need to get him out and train a bit more beforehand :). THanks Kel~

Lily: There is always next year. You are running so well right now, I can understand you want to embrace any opportunity to run yourself and challenge yourself with new records, but I must say that there are few things that have brought as much joy to me as running with Evan that day and seeing him accomplish something like that. I know I sound Cheesy and that it was ONLY a 5k, but it was a big step for him and just really really run to do it with him!!! Next year for sure!!! We'll do it all together :)

James: Hey, thanks so much!! Indeed, it's a blast! Can't wait to do it again soon!! Thanks for the nice comment and for checking in. I will tell Tyler also! We plan to come to St. George in the next few weeks so I am sure he'll touch base with you guys down there to run. He is nursing an injured knee so we are hoping for the best, but any opportunity to run with you guys is appreciated so I will have him touch base. Thanks again James~
