WAHOOOOOO!!! I am officially on cloud 9 right now.  We are actually in route home from the Ogden Half Marathon and so I am using Ty's computer to get my blog posted before getting home and getting into the normal husstle and bustle that Saturday brings.  Let me just say that today was seriously the funnest, most organized, "feel good" 1/2 marathon I have ever done, HOORAY!!!  I am not sure if it was due to eating ice cream with Kelli last night (which she claims in her normal pre-race ritual that I am considering taking on as my own ritual as well:)), or just that I was ready to get out and run some long miles, but it was AWESOME!!  And, the first time that I have not been nervous before a race.  I think it was because I had no expectations of myself today. I just wanted to get out and run with what felt good and luckily, I felt good the whole time so I was able to PR.  I have to say that I was very impressed with how well this race was organized and put together.  I would like to consider it as one that I will try to run consecutively in years to come.

We came up last night and met up with Scott and Kelli, Heidi W and her hubby Jeron, and Sue (see Sue Run) and her husband Jared for dinner (Fun, and very yummy food).  Then it was off to get ice cream with Kelli and Scott (even though our husbands didn't eat any, what the heck?!?), then back to the hotel to get some rest.  What a fun date night before a race (maybe that is the second pre-race ritual I will have to start).  We woke up 4:00 and drove down to the race with Dustin, Wild Bill and James, what a fun group of guys.  Tyler has enjoyed getting to know them.  Then we headed up the canyon to the start line.  I was nervous because I couldn't find Heidi, but I found her and was able to start with her.  We ran the first 4 miles together and then I let the down hill take me away so we parted ways a bit.  From that point on, I just took each mile as it came and pushed things when I felt I could but tried to reserve some energy because I knew the last 3 miles were flat and that they would potentially be very hot.   I pushed the last 1/2 mile pretty hard and finished at 1:38:57.  My goal was to break 1:40, so all in all, I was very proud of myself. What a FUN race!!  Heidi came in at 1:44 which is incredible to me considering this was only her 2nd half marathon ever, WOW!!!  Tyler came in at 1:19:12, which placed him 1st in his age group and 5th overall, WHAT THE HECK??? WOW!!!  Seriously, a fun race, fun group of people to be there watching and supporting. Just a fun morning (can you sense the enthusiasm?).  I am considering bagging full marathons and just focusing on 1/2's for a while.  Not really, just a fun morning that made me realize why I run in the first place, how fortunate I feel to be able to run and just how much I love it!!

Splits: 7:59, 7:59, 7:50, 7:48, 7:15, 7:26, 7:26, 7:23, 7:12, 6:58 (FIRST TIME IN HISTORY I HAVE GOTTEN IN THE 6 MINUTE MILE RANGE, HOOOORAH!! A small celebration took place due to this in the finish area :)), 7:19, 7:26, 7:23, 6:38 (last .2 miles).

Enough said, I am signing off~

Kellie, you are so amazing! You did AWESOME (and so did Tyler). I know it was the ice cream and the date! Now, you just need to try PIZZA and you will have it all down pat!

Thanks so much for cheering me in and hanging around waiting for Scott, although he never appeared! That was so nice of you guys. We love you!!!

Now, I really am thinking that aside from St George every year, I am sticking the half marathons. i love halfs, not so much the fulls!

From sue on Sun, May 17, 2009 at 00:42:20 from 75.169.71.121

Kellie! Holy Cow! Good job girl! It really bugged me on the way home that I didn't ask you about your race. I'm sorry. I was preoccupied with passing out and being in extreme pain. You are doing so good! That was a fun night before the race. We need to do that again!

From marion on Sun, May 17, 2009 at 08:30:38 from 71.219.51.212

Kellie-, Kellie, Kellie! HOLY CRUD my dear! Way to race it. You are a speed meister and the coolest ever! I couldn't find you at the start but I was SO glad to see you at the end! Yee Ha! Hot darn dogity!!!

From TylerS on Sun, May 17, 2009 at 15:50:27 from 66.119.143.249

GOOD JOB KELLIE! I think that you had some gas left in the tank, you were way to fast at the end! Plus you never looked tired when we got home! It must have been that 2 star hotel we stayed at!!! I will look for more of them on every out of town race! jk

From Kelli on Sun, May 17, 2009 at 17:04:31 from 71.219.69.233

No, Tyler, it was the ice cream. She needs more of that!

From jona on Sun, May 17, 2009 at 17:31:22 from 76.27.81.31

Congratulations Kellie! Awesome race!

From kellies on Sun, May 17, 2009 at 21:04:41 from 66.119.143.249

Thanks Josse! You're a sweetie! I appreciate it!

Clay: You are right, the crowds were amazing, as well as the volunteers! I think they are what made it so fun! I hope to do this one every year. Only the half of course, too many horror stories about the full :(

Kelli: You are a sweetie. I need to go back on and read your report. It was so fun going out for our pre-race date and I really think it was the ice cream that gave me that energy and excitement (hence the leaps when I saw you at the finish). You did amazing! You continue to amaze me!!

Sue: THANK YOU!! You did amazing, especially considering the fainting, HOLY COW!! Scary!! The night before was very fun. We need to make that become a custom pre-race requirement. We will have our little possy that travels around together to races, HOW FUN!!

Marion: So good to see you at the end. I looked for you at the start and couldn't find you but was glad to see you at the finish as well looking like a model with your perfect locks blowing in the wind as if you just stepped out of a beauty parlor, WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?? I had hat hair even after I got home and showered!! YOU are awesome and I am so proud of how well you are running and all of your accomplishments this year. Keep it up!!

Ty: Thanks Hun. That really means a lot!! I hope to make you as proud as you have made me with your running accomplishments (even though I will never agree that it's fair) :) ha ha. JK. I think it was a combination of the 2 star hotel ;), the ice cream, the dinner, the friends, pretty much everything bundled together!!

Jon: Thank you. I appreciate you checking in. You are doing so well with your running. What is up with all of these fast men, and women for that matter!! INCREDIBLE!!

From Smooth on Sun, May 17, 2009 at 21:18:05 from 71.36.78.246

Hey Kellie I just moved to Spanish Fork 2 1/2 years ago and we love it! But my neighbor graduated from SF and she's a pretty good runner too. Her name is Lily Wheatfill, but I am not sure of her maiden name.
