One of these things is not like the other:  Cold Season, Potty Training and running.  Let me give you a hint.  2 of those things keep you in the house, away from the outside world and unable to exercise.  The other thing (not like the other) is exercising.  Give up??? Any one want to guess what category I fell into this week??

My 2 year old has acted interested in Potty Training so I finally decided to bite the bullet and devote some serious time and attention to the process and let's just say that WOW, it's a PROCESS and is going to be a long road.  I took 2 days off work and feel like I am completely out of touch with the world.  I am sure this sounds like an exaggeration, but it's just weird being home.  The little guy is doing pretty good (I am quit proud of him actually), but out of my children, I would have to say he has been the hardest. That's all right, we'll keep trying:).  In addition to this, the cold that started lingering last week finally set in and made my mornings and nights, not the most pleasant of experiences!! All in all, It was NICE to get out and run today!!  I actually didn't expect much of myself so I was pleased with an overall pace of 8:36 including the time when I walked for a minute without stopping my watch!!  Thanks to Tyler for holding down the potty training fort while I was out!!!

Stayed inside this morning due to this lovely snow!!  Heidi W came over and we did 45 minutes of cardio (P90X) followed up by Ab ripper X for about 12 minutes.  It was a good workout and nice to stay inside.

Oh man, I hit a major milestone tonight.....are you ready.................I ran on the treadmill!! I know, I know, I am sure you are impressed.  I knew this night was coming but I didn't expect it to come so soon.  I mean, it's only been 2 years since I have done so :).  Further, it's been a lifetime since I ran on a treadmill and actually enjoyed it!  Tonight I got home after a very stressful day at work, running errands and the RS party and knew that I wanted to try and run but also, assumed I would be very tired, since I usually am at 9:30. However, I put on my new racing flats (thanks to Steve at St. George Running Center's sale) and headed down stairs. I had planned on only going 3-4 miles or so but at mile 3, I felt like I had just started.  My breathing felt great, legs felt strong, I was in heaven (this is a first since the marathon).  It felt like I was dreaming (you know how those running dreams go, when you run and run and run and don't get tired? It's heavenly).  Well, I decided to go 5 miles but still felt awesome, so I figured "why not just finish a 10K", so..I did.  If time had permitted, I would have gone farther, but I have to allow myself time to calm down before going to bed.  However, this is exciting for me because this may be something that I can do to get me through the winter (that apparently is going to be brutal given the amount of snow fall received over the past 2 days).  Anyway, I feel as if I am on cloud 9 and the only one I have to share it with is the FRB given my entire family is sound asleep now.  So, there is my exciting news.  I am off to shower and to get some sleep.  Night~

(Setting 7.0-7.4 on the treadmill which calculated out to be miles 1-2.5 8:49, 2.5-4 8:34. 5th mile at 8:20ish and the last mile at 7:53).

I am finding the treadmill awful handy on these cold running days! Tyler got up and ran outside but after giving me his report, I decided to stay in and just get some quick miles in on the tready.  I just ran 5 and then had to start with my Saturday chores.  Nice to get some miles in :)

Tried to get up this morning but for some reason, I was so tired, I couldn't even function.  Just to confirm (No, I am not pregnant), yes, I was lazy, but this was a different tired, to the point that I could barely even think about it. So, I didn't run :( .  Not sure what was wrong with me.

So, my oldest son Evan was sick Wednesday and Thursday and last night (Thursday into Friday), my baby started fevering! So, I opted to stay home from work today!  However, after only a couple of hours home with all three of my children, Evan was jumping off the walls (remember he was sick), Kael was of course fine and high energy and even Jack, after suffering from a fever all night, acted as if nothing was wrong.  I decided to attempt running on the treadmill but I was amazed at the amount of interuptions were presented to me during my entire THREE MILE RUN!! Honestly, it took me the amount of time to run 3 miles as I could have run a half marathon in.  I would run .25 miles, need to help my baby potty, run another .25 miles and need to turn on a movie, run .3 miles and need to break up a fight, another .25 miles and someone came to my door (yes, my kids so graciously allowed them to come in our house despite the fact that they were complete strangers and I was downstairs.  Turned out they were Jehovah Witness Missionaries :). I need to talk to my kids more about stanger danger apparently.....note to self).  Got back on the treadmill, ran .5 miles or so and had to get another game out of the closet for Jack.  Finally, I finished the 3 miles, with hopes of wanting to go 4-5 and realized, it just wan't happening.  I need to run when my kids are sleeping, there is no other time :). Was glad I got at least the measley 3 miles in that I did :)
