I am not sure on my exact placing today but Tyler looked at the results and thinks this is what he recalls!! What a fun race today. I got a new PR and felt awesome the entire time.  I think I really owe this PR to Kelli who introduced me to a new "Pre-Race Ritual" which is eating ice cream!!! Honestly, when we ran Ogden, we went and got ice cream and I felt great and PR'd there and so Tyler and I went out last night, went and got ice cream and low and behold I PR'd again, HOORAY!!! Thanks Kelli!!!

So this morning we left our house at 4:50 and picked up the Heidi's to travel over.  Tyler was gracious enough to drop us off at the bus, then he went and parked and actually ran from the bottom up to the start line to find us.  When we got up top, I will admit it was very chilly!!! Chillier than I have been used to these past months.  We met up with Kellie Barney, her sister Michelle and found another Heidi friend hanging out before the race started.  When we went to actually get in line to start, I could not believe how many people there were and JUST HOW FAR BACK we were in line.  The line started on road, then turned on a side road and opened up into a large pit where people were waiting. We, were among the people waiting in the pit.  So we start creeping to the start line and luckily found Tyler who was sure he would find us!  It took us almost 4 minutes to even get to the start line and my watch started and off I went.  So, for the first 2 miles, I felt like I was participating in a game trying to weave around so many other runners (I guess this is why my hubby likes to start at the front of the pack), but it was fun trying to creep my way back to the front and get out of the cluster of people.  I was really surprised how many people I saw that I recognized today.  Running is taking over Utah I think!!!  It was pretty incredible.  All in all I felt awesome today.  It was very very nice having Tyler along to help me out along the way.  Not to mention that I just like running with him. Poor guy already had 11 miles under his belt when we started so he ran a total of 24 miles today and acted as if it didn't even phase him.  I was happy to end with a PR, feeling good and having energy in the bank.  These are the kind of runs that make me love running~! I look forward to Hobble Creek in 2 weeks :).

Splits: 8:14 ( I told you it was a cluster)7:12, 7:11, 6:56 (first time ever getting a mile in the 6 minute range, HOORAY), 7:22, 7:17, 7:40, 7:47, 7:09, 6:58 (2nd time ever getting in the 6 minute range, OH YEAH, OH YEAH), 7:01, 7:20, 7:07, 5:39 (last .12 mile).

Great job Kellie:) And congrats on the huge PR!!! Hobble Creek should be close to 1:30.

Great Job today, that starting area was crazy, I managed to get pretty close to the start, but still had to work my way around some slower people after the gun went off. Congrats on the PR. Tyler did awesome too, being able to run up there and back down.

If ice cream is the key then I'm in. Way to go on the PR you're kicking butt.

From Kelli on Sun, Aug 09, 2009 at 17:22:48 from 71.219.82.15

Awesome kick there at the end!!! And congrats on those two miles under 7! You did great.

The crowds at the beginning of this race are ridiculous! Way to move through them so quickly!

From RAD on Sun, Aug 09, 2009 at 23:34:36 from 76.27.12.70

Nice work Kelly!! That is an amazing PR, and especially after working your way through that crowd. Ice cream is the key to everything important - it is the food of the gods :)

Josse: Thanks so much! Wow, you give me hope. Last year I finished Hobble Creek 3 minutes faster then Provo so even if I get down into the 1:34 range I will be happy, now if I get down closer to 1:30, I may have to have an official celebration party! That would be freaking awesome!! Thanks for the motivation!!!

Dustin: Glad to see that you made it home safe. Yes, the starting area was crazy and I learned my lesson! I need to take Tyler's advice more often and get toward the front. Not because I think I am faster then anyone up close, but just because it would have helped my overall time. Oh well, I didn't mind the warm up mile, I think it may have really helped over all. Thanks for checking in and for the nice comment. You did awesome yesterday!!

Teena, Teena, Teena, I MISS YOU!! You are running Hobble Creek right?? We need to meet up and visit!! Thanks for your sweet comments. It was a fun run and thankfully I felt good for the most of it! Let's hope it continues with my training as I have been in a slump for a bit :). Your words lift me up! Thanks again!

Johnny: Yeah, Ice cream is the trick I guess, who'd a thunk? Next race you do, we will go out and get ice cream the night before, deal??

Kelli: Thanks!! I sure missed ya, wished you would have been with me. Luckily I felt better then when we did Speedy, YIKES, that was hard for me that day!! But it was a fun run and I can actually claim that I had some mileage in the 6 minute range now which is fun!!! Can't wait to see ya at Hobble Creek, less than 2 weeks away now!

Anji: Hello! I have not met you before but looked you up and noticed that you live in St. George!! It is so beautiful down there. I have ran with Marcie before (granted she was 6 months preggers) and Heidi too. I actually talked to Heidi after the race yesterday. What a fun running group of girls you have down there! It's nice to meet you. Very nice job yesterday!! I am sure you were one of the speedsters that I was trying to catch the entire race so thanks for pulling me along!!

Rad: Amen on the ice cream comment. Funny that up until the last few months, ice cream didn't tempt me in the least. However, since meeting Kelli, her love of ice cream has rubbed off on me and I am finding that it really is the food of the gods!! YUMMY (actually had me a bowl today)!! Thanks for checking in. You are running so well. Keep it up!!

I am off to bed now. Starting a new week tomorrow, gotta love it!! Sleep tight ya'll~

Great job Kellie! I was very impressed with your pace! That was one of the funnest races that I have run! You really surprised the heck out of me, especially towards the end of the race. Awesome job! I think that you could have a HUGE PR at St. George!

From kellies on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 14:02:40 from 160.7.238.229

Thanks Hun! I couldn't have done it without you, really! I think you should take on being my regular pacer?? Na, you are too darn fast to accept that undertaking and I know you would have kicked butt had you actually been racing. I am sure it was a bit hard for you running that as an easy "training run" and not pushing yourself and I really appreciate that! It was very fun running with you. Thanks for all of the helpful hints, I had a blast!!! Luvs~

From Clay on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 15:39:02 from 67.222.231.10

I know I'm a little late with this but that was a great race for you! I might have to start eating ice cream too!!!;-)

Keep up the good work.
