Well, I was going to get up this morning and get on the TM but I didn't (Ty actually turned off the alarm and I didn't hear a thing so, it resulted in sleeping in).  I woke up at 6:50 and debated trying to go down on the TM for even just 30 mins but was worried about getting back into the routine of things after our LONG break from work and opted not to.  Good thing as we all had a bit of a hard time getting back to our normal school/work morning jive.  So, I got home from work and ran out for a minute in between getting home and Tyler running.  I am a bit sad tonight :(.  I am just 28 weeks pregnant and the running hit a bit of a wall for me tonight.  I hit 2 miles and started cramping worse then typical.  For the last long while I would get Braxton Hicks that would tighten my stomach and create the pain down the back of my legs but tonight it was a sharp pain that ran along the bottom of my stomach, up both sides and down the front and back of my legs.  It honestly felt like my muscles and ligaments, etc were tearing.  It hurt and almost brought me to tears.  I tried to walk a few times and start running again and actually was able to run the last 1 1/2 miles straight but it really hurt!! And, I have now been home for 5 hours and am still cramping. I am not sure what to do at this point.  Wondering if it was just a "night" or the way things are going to be from now on and if I am doing damage, etc.  I need to think about things and may try to find a pregnancy belt to use when running, I have heard those help!! Guess we'll see.

I think it's safe to say that I did some damage with yesterday's run.  My stomach proceeded to hurt (like painful muscle hurt) all night, through the night and so far all of today!! Not sure if I dare say running will have to stop until after the baby, but it's appearing as if it may be the case.  So, I was glad that Heidi C text last night and opted to do a workout video with me today downstairs! I have such an easier time getting up if I know someone is coming over.  I even woke up before the alarm and was able to get some things done in my house which was nice:).  So, we did some strength training and called it good! I think I will try to get on the TM tonight for some brisk walking or maybe even go to the gym to hop on the elliptical.  I need to do something Cardio'ish! Guess we'll see how it goes with our busy night! Have a happy Tuesday!

So, I was going to get up this morning and run with Heidi C but to put it frank, I just wasn't in the mood :).  My babes (3 1/2 year old, but still call him my babes) threw up about 8:00ish last night and then was fine but I started feeling sick to my stomach during the night and just had an uneasy stomach when I woke up so again.....I wasn't in the mood to run and I was also a bit apprehensive after my run from Monday ( I know, I need to have a more positive attitude).  Sooooooo, I got home from work today and decided to go downstairs to get some sort of workout it.  I ended up getting 3 miles in on the Treadmill.  I walked for .25 each mile, then ran it out to the mile mark, then walked, etc.   This helped with the contracting and didn't kill me off:) Then, I got done running and did 30 minutes of my Physique 57 workout that literally about killed me! Its sad that I used to be able to do the full 57 minutes and actually get through it without wanting to die! I have a long way to go to get back into shape after my baby but at least I will have a baby to show for it! I am excited for that! It's all good! So glad I got something in for the day:)

Your TM workout sounds identical to mine. I can't go more than a mile without stopping to walk :) What kind of WO is Physique 57? I'm trying to find a good video to do right after I have the baby to stay conditioned while I take some time off of running.

From kellies on Fri, Jan 07, 2011 at 20:54:57 from 63.248.32.71

Hey Melody! Sorry about the delay in getting back with you!! Physique 57 is actually a pretty intense workout but strength training. It apparently is the same workout that Kelly Rippa does ( :)). It basically KILLS your legs (squats and using a ball to squeeze between your legs until they burn so bad you want to cry). Then you do some floor work, stability work, weights, abs, etc!! The set I bought came with a 57 minute full body workout, 30 minute express body workout, and a 30 minute ab and arm workout. You can actually check it out online if you google Physique 57!! I really like it and used to do it more regularly but then running seemed to take over and now pregnancy has taken over further:)!!! My sister in law introduced me to this and has seen amazing results from it!!! If you want to borrow my video or anything, let me know!!! So good to hear from you!! It's comforting to know that I am not the only one trying to get through this pregnancy and seeing changes in my running!!! I hope that you have a great weekend!

This cold winter is killing me:). As if its not already hard enough to get motivated to get out and run being "front" heavy, I can't seem to find the desire to layer in multiples to run outside. In other words, I opted to stay inside today.  So, I woke up with intentions to run on the TM but I think my little lady (aka baby) was laying on something because I felt a pinch in my hip that went down my leg so I just decided to go for a good old fashioned walk:).  It actually felt really nice and got my heart pumping.  I walked for about 30 minutes at a brisk pace and then did weights and stretching for another 20 mins or so.  It was good to get up and get my morning off to a good start:)!

Oh how I love winter and the time that it allows me to run.  Meaning, its so nice sleeping in and running later in the morning:).  This morning Heidi C and I left at 9:00AM to got out for a quick 5 mile square!!! I felt pretty good.  We walked for the first little bit, then ran until mile 2.5, then took another little walk break and finished the rest of the way running.  No major cramps today which was very nice!! Looks like I can still keep hanging in there!! :)

Pretty proud of myself! I actually got up and went to the gym this morning.  Its too darn cold to attempt to do anything outside:)! I did 2 different elliptical machines for a total of 35 minutes, then ran on the TM for 10 minutes (Partial walk at first and then ran, then walked) so I got a total of 45 mins of cardio and a whole mile in, yesssssss!!! I finished off my little workout with 15 minutes of weights! Nice morning!

Oh, I got to run with the Heidi's this morning!! I just have to say how grateful I am to these girls!! They have taught me so much but aside from everything what great friends they are to continue running with me in my state right now!!!  I just love them:)!!!!

It was SO NICE to get out this morning.  We met up and ran 5 mile square.  Around mile 2 I decided to walk (have been having some pretty intense BH contractions lately that are a little scary and I don't want to do anything that I will regret later) so I walked while they kept running.  I figure I walked about .5 miles then started running again and met back up with the Heidi's to finish the square.  It was one of those morning when you run and look around and feel SO GRATEFUL for so many things.  Today I am grateful to live where I do!!! Grateful for the warmer temps this morning!! Grateful that I am active and have a healthy body that allows me to do things.  Grateful that I am pregnant with my 4th baby and that all is well (seriously, it makes me cry to think about sometimes).  Grateful that I have a supportive family that allows me to do what I do.  Grateful for my friends that inspire me and keep me going.  Grateful for my beautiful boys and the motivation they give me! Just a great morning.  I am gitty (if you can't tell) and just so darn glad that I got some miles in:).  Looking forward to my big ole 5k this weekend that I get to run with my son and best friend JaNae!!! See...........so much to be grateful for:)!!! Happy Monday!

So I slept in a little too long this morning but had intentions to get on the TM so I got dressed and went down stairs.  After a mere 20 minutes of walking, my head was so full of things that I "Needed" to be doing that I turned the TM off and came upstairs to get my morning started.  I was able to get in 1.3 miles and a bit of stretching beforehand.

Sooooo, I got home later and convinced my sweet hubby to run the boys to Piano lessons so that I could go out for a run! I ran out 2 and back for an even 4 miles and the best part is.......I didn't stop to walk one time, Hooray!!!  I actually felt REALLY good tonight! I LOVE this weather! It's perfect for running. I think it's lightening my mood:).

In St. George this weekend for the St. George 5k and 1/2 Marathon.  I LOVE St. George! The weather is PERFECT!!! Tyler got up and went running and when he got home, I got suited up to go out.  As I was getting ready I asked my son Evan if he wanted to come with me.  Last year Evan ran 3 5k's between August and October, then finished Soccer but hadn't really ran since then.  Knowing he was running the 5k tomorrow most likely sparked his interested in coming along with me after an entire winter off:). So, he got dressed and came with me.  I just ran out a mile with him and back putting him at 2 miles.  He did great!! Didn't stop once and we even ran some good hills.  Plus he was talking and keeping me company so it was a lot of fun to go with him and something I look forward to doing more.  Then, I dropped him off at the house and kept going for a bit longer just to get one more mile in.  3 just sounded better to me then 2:).  It was a good way to start a vacation day~

Oh, what a fun morning!!! We woke up this morning, geared up and left the house at about 8:00 to head out to the race. Tyler was running the half marathon and my little Evan and I, along with my brother-in-law John planned to run the 5k.  I have deemed St. George the PERFECT place to run during this time of year! It couldn't have been more beautiful or perfect for a race day!  I didn't think I would be able to keep up with Evan and John so the plan was to start together and then let them do their thing (A big thanks to John for agreeing to run with Evan by the way) and I do my thing.  For the last few weeks my pace has slowed (which is fine) and I just haven't felt great running but I really had SO FUN this morning.  I think the sun lifts my mood:)!!! We hung in the car until it was time to line up.  As I got out of the car and stood up, I realized that I should probably make a Bathroom run if I planned on running 3 miles (yes, it's nice being 7 months preggers and running:).  Evan decided he had better also so we ran inside to find a very long line for the bathrooms, nice!!! We finished up and as we walked out I saw Michelle gearing up for the half!! She spotted me by my ever so evident "profile shot":) ha ha!! It was great to see her and chat for a split sec! As we were talking the announcer came over saying "The 5k will start in 2 minutes", oh no, we had better hurry!!! SO, we ran up to the start line, met up with John and off we went:).  Let me start by saying that I would be PERFECTLY CONTENT to just run 5k's with Evan for the rest of my life.  They are honestly the FUNNEST thing to me.  It's so great watching your son run and accomplish things.  He did so great and didn't stop once! He even ran through the water stop grabbing a cup, taking a quick swallow and carrying on.  He is a cute boy and I had so fun running with him. Suprisingly, I was actually able to stay up with them also:).  I felt really good! We hung together the whole time until we turned the last corner and saw the finish line.  Evan has this tendancy to be able to kick it into HIGH GEAR the last .25 miles or so, so as expected, off he went!! I just hung back and watched him with a smile from ear to ear (oh he makes me proud).  He ended up finishing about 10 seconds before me at 24:50'ish.  I finished at 25:03 which was a 8:06 average! I was proud of myself! Sorry to keep patting myself on the back but it was just a lot of fun.  We finished, got some goodies and then I went out to run a bit longer while waiting for Tyler to finish.  I ended up running around some loops just in time to catch Tyler at the 7 mile mark of the half marathon! I also got to see Michelle, Amber G and several other familiar faces that again, brought a smile to my face.  I ended up getting an additional 2.5 miles in for the day putting me at 5.5 for the day.  :)

For the last few weeks I have wondered where I want to go with running after my baby is born.  A part of me wants to just take it easy and enjoy my baby and quit stressing about training, juggling training etc.  I think to myself that I want to run only 5-6 miles maybe 4-5 days a week.  However, after being at the race and seeing all of the famliar faces, it sparked that desire to go all "gung ho" after my babes is born so now I am torn.  I guess we will will just have to wait and see what happens after she gets here and how my body heals, etc!! It was just a fun morning and one that made me fall in love with running, my surroundings and all of the wonderful people that I have met in the running world!! I love it!!!

Ha ha!! Oh Melody, that was funny! Trust me, there have been a few occasions where I felt as if my water was going to break also but, luckily, it hasn't!! I think it was purely the adrenaline of the race. When I went back out to run (those additional 2 miles)I averaged a 8:45-9:00pace! Oh the joys of running pregnant:). Oh it's hard to recover from a wonderful weekend in St. George!! I planned to run with Heidi C this morning but when the alarm went off, I really didn't want to get up.  Never the less, I did, knowing I would regret it later if I didn't.  The forecast last night said 28 degrees this morning so I only wore a thin pair of pants, a short sleeved shirt and a long tech shirt over (with a beenie and gloves of course).  I walked outside and thought "ummm, I wonder if I dressed warm enough" but figured I would warm up quickly.................I was wrong!!!.  Heidi told me her thermostat registered 21 degrees so it's not like it was THAT COLD but I was FREEZING!!! I had to stop and walk a couple of times this morning,  It was one of those days.  Baby was laying low which wasn't easy on the sciatic or the bladder (sorry for the honesty) but if I walked for more then 20 seconds, I froze so it motivated me to keep running.  Poor Heidi, she is such a great friend!! She just goes along with me and is so nice to stop and walk with me!! I am lucky to have her.  Moral of the story is it was a rough run this morning, especially after such a wonderful run on Saturday!! Oh well, I will keep going.  I am almost 31 weeks now which is only how long I lasted running with Baby #3, so I feel grateful to still be running and running 5 miles at that.  I am sure I will continue to slow down but I will fight as long as I can:). Happy Monday!!!

I was supposed to get up and run with Heidi C this morning but was up all night with a sore throat amongst other things :) so I decided to sleep in a bit and go after work.  I should know by now that my energy levels deplete as the day goes so I started with low energy, forgot gloves so my hands were Frrrreeezing, and I basically felt like I needed to go to the bathroom the whole time (yah, that was a lot of information).  It was a miserable run and now as I post (4 hours later) I am still feeling the after pains so it really wasn't worth it.  Oh well, glad I got 3 miles in even if I have to run on the TM from here on out.  Looking forward to some strength training with Heidi in the morning:).

First and foremost, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Tyler tomorrow!!! I just had to get that on here in the event that I don't blog tomorrow:)!!! Weird that he is turning 34 and I have known him for almost 20 years!! What a great 20 years it has been:). Happy Birthday hun~

Woke up this morning and decided to attempt the treadmill knowing I didn't dare go outside (don't want to get too far from home and have an experience like the other night).  I had no idea what my plan was so I decided I would start with a brisk walk at an incline.  After only .5 miles, I was kind of bored and decided I wanted to run the next .5 getting me to the first mile mark.  I got to that point and felt pretty good, sooooo, that's what I continued to do! I walked again .5 at an incline (4.1-4.3 pace) then took it up to 6.7 for .5, back down, etc until I reached 3 miles.  It ended up taking about 35 minutes and then I had to get going for the day.  Overall, I felt good and liked the plan to walk and run getting some miles in.  I think I will do it again tomorrow trying to get at least 5 miles in.   Just trying to do what I can for now.  Only 8 1/2 weeks to go, but who's counting right?? :)

My mileage is dwindling but I am still trying:).  Woke up a bit later then I should have but wanted to get something in and knew it was a crazy day and night so later was not an option.  So, I hopped on the TM and got in 3 miles (Again with the half mile walk, half mile run technique).  I am actually really liking this option because I feel like I get a semi-decent work out and it doesn't bring on the strong BH Contractions and after contractions that keep me up all night.  I think it's my body's way of saying "yah, this works" so we'll stick with it:).  Took me 35 mintues~ Better then nothing!

Hooray, it's FEBRUARY!!!! I can finally say I am due next month:).  Granted, it's the END of next month but still, there is some comfort in thinking Next month!! ha ha!! I woke up this morning after a very restless night and decided a little strength training might be a good things so I did 40 minutes of Physique 57.  The workout total is 57 minutes (hence the name) so I did everything but the Ab section.  It's such a killer workout!! I am excited to get back with this post baby and build some muscle! My legs feel a little sore now.................NICE!

So, I am sticking with the treadmill theme for now.  Not to mention that it's WAY TOO COLD outside to find the desire to go out there:).  Today I woke up with the intentions of sticking with the same routine I did on Monday (.5 mile walk, .5 mile run to 3 miles) but as I started on the TM I decided that I needed to see what I was able to do.  I walked .5, then ran a full mile (that felt nice since it'd been a week since running a while mile without stopping), then walked another .5 then ran 2 miles putting me at 4 total!! I am glad I was able to get just that one extra mile in and to be able to run 3 miles instead of just 1 1/2, etc~ I am also sore from yesterday's Physique 57 so I am feeling pretty good that I got some of these "areas" worked out a bit! It's been a good morning so far:)

So, I am feeling a bit guilty about not doing anything yesterday. I felt like I really needed a day off and wanted to sleep in but then went a little overboard with my "Desert intake" and am now regretting it (I really need to get a grip). Not to mention that I couldn't sleep and ended up getting up at 5:50AM anyway (hate that).  I used the morning doing house work and getting necessary stuff done instead of working out.  As nice as it is to get that sort of stuff done, I always feel guilty when I don't get a little workout in.  Sooooooooo, I really needed to get up this morning!! I set the alarm to get up early, but Tyler said I was snoring so he turned it off and let me sleep in (I have another cold so I can't breath at night and can't get comfortable enough to sleep much so although "snoring" might be an exaggeration, I am sure I was pretty fun to listen to once I was actually sleeping:), ha ha!  So, I woke up late and ran right down to get on the TM.  Today I alternated .25/.75 walk/run instead of .5/.5 getting 3 miles in.  The beauty was I got 3 miles in in 31 minutes instead of 35 minutes so that made me feel happy!! It was just a little something but nice nonetheless :) Happy Friday! I love Friday!

Ty got up and went out early this morning and then went to help his dad so he didn't get home until 10:30.  I was dressed and ready to go out to run but when it boiled down to it, I was running out of energy (yah, that's pretty early in the day to be running out of energy I know:)).  Never the less, I decided to go out and see how I felt.  I originally planned to go 5 miles but decided 4 was enough for today. I knew I needed to hurry home to get ready for a Cousin's Baby shower so as I kept running, my brain boggled with my "to do" list and so I cut it a little short.  Today I ran a mile, walked .25, ran another mile, walked .25 then ran out the last 1 1/2 putting me at 4 total:).  All in all I felt really good and must say how nice it was to get OUT and run!! The weather is perfect running weather! It was good~

Hit the TM this morning.  I could tell immediately that it was going to be one of "those days", it actually kind of hurt to walk so I opted for the .5/.5 walk run scenario.  It ended up being just fine and I felt fine afterward so no complaints! Almost 33 weeks so it's getting closer:)

Seriously I have been eating chocolate non stop and not good for me, since I am injured and can't burn it off quite as effectively.

Hey, it's been proven that what you eat while the little ones is in the womb, they will have a preference for those tastes later on. I ate cafe rio a ton when I was pregnant with my last two, and the both LOVE it. So I believe it. But what girl doesn't like chocolate?

Your baby room is so so adorable by the way! I am so happy for you and Tyler.

I was actually able to get up and run a bit this morning which was pretty necessary after a rough week.  I woke up Monday with intentions to run but my hips hurt so bad I could barely walk.  I took it as a pretty obvious sign that running was out of the question.  Then, I had a sad funeral that day that kind of took it out of me also.  By Monday night, the cold that has been creeping in, hit me like a ton of bricks and knocked me out!! So Tuesday and Wednesday were resting days as prescribed by my ever so concerned and cute husband! Needless to say, this morning I woke up feeling better so I decided to get up and run! It felt really good to get up and get some exercising in.  Not to mention that it's always nice to see how much more I can get accomplished in the morning when I wake up early! So, I'm feeling like it's a good day today!!  :)

So, I had a bit harder time getting up this morning but never the less, did and went down on the Treadmill.  I was watching "Baby Story" (show on TLC that I love to watch in the mornings) cruising along, feeling good when all of a sudden at 1.87 miles, the Treadmill BITES THE DUST!!! Ummm, okay!?!?! A while ago my "darling" son decided to pour some oil on the bad boy which has caused the track to slip for the last 2 years or so, but today it finally said enough.  It's like the bar was rotating and moving the track (belt, whatever you call it) but the second I would step on it or add weight (which I understand is excessive right now at almost 35 weeks preggers) it would stop.  So, that really stinks!!! I was just getting into my groove.  So, I ran upstairs, put on some warm clothes and decided to go outside and run.  Thanks to Tyler for allowing me to go (he has been a bit reluctant to let me run outside with the yucky air because I have a nasty cold).  I was pretty happy that I ran the additional 2.1 miles without stopping.  Granted, I am sure it was darn slow, but that's okay! I most likely would have only gone 3 miles on the TM so it was nice to get in an extra mile and I felt pretty good.  Yes, the air was yucky and caused me to cough for an hour after getting home, but again, I was happy to run today!! I have no idea what I will do for these next few weeks without a treadmill.  It has become my friend over the past few weeks.  A bit sad about it really (who thought I would ever say that about a TM).  Anyone know a good repairman who works on Treadmills??? What to do??

So, I ran the 5 mile Dam to Dam race today~! However, I am not referencing it as a "Race" because technically, it wasn't...............for "me" anyway, hint hint!:) Tyler had planned to run the 10 miler as his last qualifying race for the Runner's Series so we decided to come down and make a weekend out of it as our "Pre-Baby" getaway!!!  However, our house was being rented and the Holiday weekend posed some major problems finding a hotel so we ended up staying in Spring Dale (right at the mouth of Zion National Park).  Oh my goodness, it is SO BEAUTIFUL out there!! It was SO SO FUN to getaway with Tyler and have some alone time! I really enjoy hanging with my hubby! So, we got down last Friday night and woke up to some serious rain (as forecasted) for the race, Yuck! We drove out to Sand Hollow Res to more rain, yuck! Sat and waiting for over an hour for the "shuttles"(aka volunteer drivers) to take us to the start line of the 5 miler when they came across the speaker and told us that they had re-routed the race to a 2.5 mile out and back instead......nice! So a few minutes before 10:00, we lined up and got ready to run.  This way both the 10 mile and 5 mile races started and ended at the same place.  I got going, running across, feeling pretty good, looked down at my watch and.........REALLY!??? I run THAT SLOW NOW??? It is a bit discouraging, but I do feel grateful to be able to run still so I tried not to let it get to me! The rain picked up a bit and after only .5 miles, my right leg was totally dead which kind of stunk, but........oh well, keep going.  I planned to run to the half way point and then walk for a bit but was feeling "pretty good" so I decided to keep running.  Toward the end (about the last mile) I felt like I was running so fast and really kicking some major butt so I.......................looked down at my watch again and.......REALLY!?!? I am still running that slow, ha ha!!  Needless to say, I crossed the finish line at 48:53 (watch time) putting me at a 9:40 pace.  Kind of sad but happy to have ran the whole time and so glad that I will have a little baby girl in a few weeks to show for it!! I have actually been thinking about my running since I have been pregnant and this little girl has already been through a lot with me! I feel grateful to have run this long into my pregnancy and grateful for the experiences I have had.  I found out I was preggers last July and ran the Hobble creek Half in August, Salt Lake Half in September, SG Marathon in October, Snow Canyon 5k in November, Painters 5k in January, and now the Dam to Dam 5 miler in February!! I think I need to find a 5k of sort for March just to keep my track record!!!

So, highlight of the day was when I finished the race!! I walked to the truck to get dried and warm thinking that I would go out to see Ty finish his race.  I looked at the clock and assessed that it has been an hour and 5 minutes since Ty started.  I assumed it would take him about an hour and 10 minutes so I planned to get the camera and go out in about 2-3 minutes (due to the continued rain, etc).  Well, I look up and low and behold, there is Tyler walking toward the truck..........WHAT?!?! He is DONE ALREADY!!! Weird that it took him a mere 16 minutes longer to run 10 miles then it did me 5, ha ha, Honestly, that is crazy to me!! So, I got out and was like "You are done already" in which he replies "Yah, I just won the whole thing and you weren't even there to see it..............broke the tape and everything....................I was looking for you but couldn't see you", I AM THE WORST WIFE EVER!!!!!  I honestly felt so bad!! It was his very first win ever and I totally missed it.  Ty told me that he wasn't really mad at me but that he was for sure going to rub my nose in it for a few days!! Sad!!!  I am so proud of him but it may take me some serious time to get over my frustrations with myself that I missed it!!!

All in all, it was a good race and fun to go down with Tyler for a fun weekend, despite the cold temps, etc.........we had a lot of fun!!! Sorry about the long post :)

Woot woot!!! I am officially 35 weeks so I feel like I am getting closer and the countdown is on! I hope to get one more week of some good running in and then assess the situation at that point!!  It felt really nice to get out today and better yet, to get outside!! It was a beautiful morning!!!

Did something a little different tonight! I took my kiddos to Piano lessons and had an hour to kill so I went to a park near by and walked/ran around their little asphalt track.  I didn't wear my watch and have no idea how far each lap is so I am totally guesstimating on how far I actually went but it seemed to be at least 3.5-4 miles.  Not to mention that I walked/ran consistently for almost 50 minutes so I would hope that it was at least 4 miles.  However, not knowing I don't dare assume the most so I will mark it as 3.5:).  I alternated walking one lap and running 2.  Feel like I got a semi-decent workout and was glad to get a little something in!

Just a little Variety Exercise today!! I woke up after a VERY rough night (hips hurt so bad I couldn't get comfy enough to sleep so I basically laid awake all night).  My hips were sore and my babes was sitting low so I knew straight running may not be the best idea.  I got on the TM (Yes, my handy Manny Hubby fixed it, HOORAY) and walked for 5 minutes to warm up, then did weights and lunges, got back on the TM for another 5 minutes of walking, followed by more weights and lunges, then walked for a bit, ran until 2 miles, then stretched and did a bit more weights to equal a total of 50 minutes of exercise.  Like how I try to make it sound like it was a GREAT workout??? Well, it wasn't really but at least I got up a got "something" in.  I need to get in about 4 miles tomorrow or at least I'd like to:)  We'll see what mood baby girl is in in the morning and go from there!! So, I got up and got on the TM for a little jaunt.  Basically walked the first mile while talking to my cute brother on the phone, then ran/walked the last 3.5.  It was nice and I felt like I got my heart beat up.  I am going to wait about 2 more weeks and then start running some 9-10 milers in an attempt to induce labor.  Not really............there is no way I could do that but it's tempting to try! Oh, kind of a funny little night but another fun memory made!!!  This morning I didn't get up to do anything so I hoped to be able to do a little something tonight! I was driving my son to karate this evening and my 3 year old said "Mom, can we go wunning oh sumting (running or something?)".  I was like "Sure, you want to go running?" (he has never ran before so this was a new conversation).  After receiving confirmation from both Kael and Jack that they wanted to go running, we decided we would do just that after getting home from karate.  So, we got home, suited up, tied up our sneakers and went out for a run.  We actually ran to the school nearby and back which resulted in ONE MILE!!! At the half way point, we stopped and walked for a bit and then started the slow but consistent run back home.  It was so much fun and I was so proud of my 3 and 6 year old!! More then anything, I was happy that they initiated it and it wasn't me "forcing" them to do it (as I typically feel I do everything else when it comes to my kiddos).  Even better......they were so proud of themselves, which is always a nice feeling as well.  I got home and went downstairs to get on the TM but my babes was not having it!! She kept kicking and hitting my bladder and after a mere mile, I decided to call it a night!!! My belly seems to have popped pretty extensively over this past weekend (You know how that goes? You wake up one day so much bigger then when you went to bed...........weird) and can feel the added pressure when doing anything but especially RUNNING!! So, yes a measly 2 miles.  Oh well:)

A fun Saturday morning:).  My boys had to be to a school function at 8:30 so I got to sleep in a bit before getting them up and ready.  Tyler had gone out on a 20 miler so little Jack and I got home and decided to go for a walk.  Just as we were getting ready to go (he actually wanted to ride his scooter) Tyler pulled up and decided to come walk with us.  So, we just walked out a half a mile and back so that Jack could ride his scooter.  Then when we got home, I went out for a little more.  I ran the first mile, then ran into Mac who was just finishing up with her 16 miler (hard for me to even process at this point).  So, we walked and visited for a mile (so good to see her).  Then, I ran the mile home.  So, all in all, it was 4 miles today, half walking, half running! It was a perfect morning to be out, I really enjoyed it! I want to try to go out a little further this Saturday but know I will have to walk a great deal of the way!  Running is becoming harder and harder each week but overall I feel grateful that I can still be active somewhat!

Yesterday was a weird day!! I can't explain what was going on but I just didn't feel right!! Legs were numb most of the day, I felt like I was going to pass out on the spot, NO energy, etc!! Signs that I am getting closer to my due date I guess! So, I went to the Doc today for my weekly visit and he explained all about the baby laying on nerves, smashing my diaphragm etc which explains the light headed feelings, numbing of limbs, and shortness of breath.  Seems I just need to toughen up a bit:).  Moral of the story is I after the day, I had NO Desire to get up this morning and took it as a sleep in day!! However, today I felt REALLY good.  So, I got home from picking up the kiddos and went down on the TM for a quick little something.  I walked .5, ran .5 until 3 miles then had to hop off to get the night going (karate, homework, interviews for class papers, grocery shopping, etc).  It ended up being a MUCH better day then yesterday..........nice:)

I think it's technically cheating to post miles on the "Fast Running Blog" when they weren't RUNNING MILES, but never the less, I am going to post them so that I can keep track of my attempts in regards to exercise these days!!! I got home from work today and decided to go on a walk with Jack.  Tyler had my two older boys so it was just Jack and I and I really didn't want to go downstairs and stick him in front of the TV while I got on the TM to run (Especially considering how pretty it was outside today). So.............we went for a 40 minute walk instead! I am not exactly sure how far I went but am assuming 15 mins per mile so it should have been at least 2 1/2.  It was actually exactly what I needed! I haven't been feeling well these last couple of days (got a case of the stomach flu and basically have ZERO energy) so I wasn't in the mood to push myself.  It was great spending some time with my little Jackers and enjoying the BEAUTIFUL DAY!!!!

Hey I'm all about cheating on my running miles, (I guess that is why I'm not as good as I could be). Just ask the guys down here I'm the king of converting other types of activities to running. Most of the time I'm converting my basketball time to running. The running club even gave me a cool trophy last year for the "most basketball miles". I think it is funny, actually most of the time I leave basketball feeling like I had a much better workout than an easy 3 or 4 mile run, however I do understand that to get better at running a person should probably run more.

I was actually able to get my keester out of bed this morning (Bonus).  I went down and did a strength training video (Erin, my favorite) for about 45 mintues then decided to hop on the TM to get a mile in before starting the day!!! It was a fun way to mix things up a bit and I feel like I got some good cardio in along with working my muscles:).  It is such a beautiful day today!!

Wahoo, the energy is back!!! I am not sure if it's because I felt so lousy earlier in the week, or if it is "post shower" excitement from my FUN FUN BABY SHOWER Last night, but I had such a great RUN this morning!!! I didn't sleep much last night so I got up early, a bit sore from my strength training yesterday, and hit the TM.  I walked the first .5 then ran 1 full mile (it's been a while, that felt nice), then walked another .5 (putting me to 2 miles total) then ran 1.75 miles straight, YAHOOOOOO!!! Then I just walked out the last .25 to get my heart rate down, etc putting me to 4 miles total~ I felt so darn good! I am happy about it!!  I want to go run again :)

My goal today was to try and get 6 miles in! I really really wanted to do New Leaf (knowing that walking may consume over half of the course but not caring).  The weather has been SO DARN BEAUTIFUL that I just want to get out in it!! But............I woke up at 7:00 in a sever state of "Nesting" and starting working in my house instead (Tyler was still out on his run).  I got SO MUCH done, which felt nice.  Tyler got home from his run but I was in the thick of my cleaning and didn't want to stop so I told him to go finish some of his errands while I finished the house.  Then, I had a Baby shower for a neighbor, my son's soccer game, errands to run, grocery store, etc and so I basically ran out of time for New Leaf.  We got home and I hurried to get dressed just as the rain came in, DARN IT!!! So, I went down and got on the Treadmill.  I got 5 miles in (alternating walking/running) but my hips were killing me and I kept getting some sharp pains up the sides of my stomach so I took it as my queue to call it a night.  Glad I got at least 5 in and got to my 15 miles for the week:).  Have I mentioned that I am ready to have a baby????

Nice job on getting SO MUCH done and then still running. You are amazing! Enjoy the bun in the oven while you can, she will be here in no time and then you will be changing diapers and up all night! Not that any of that is bad, babies are worth it!

Holy moly Kellie, you are kicking tail. How much longer do you officially have? I can't wait for you to have your little girl. I've been snuggling my little one every spare second I can find.

Thanks Kel! I am not sure what is going on with me, I think I have just finally hit that point. I have felt good and positive but Saturday was the worst night to date. I was up every hour starting from mid-night until 7:00 (only skipped the 6:00 hour, which means I was up at 12:00, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, 5:00, and for good at 7:00). My hips were hurting so bad that the pain kept waking me up!! Then, I was so tired yesterday from being up all night that I think it took it's toll. I know she will get here and time will fly but I just don't feel that great and am SO SO Anxious to meet my babes:) Just one of those moods I guess!I will work my way out of it:)!! Ha ha!

Hey Melody!! I have been thinking about you and keep going to your blog to see if there are any updates of sort!! It's SO GOOD To hear from you!!! Your baby is absolutely Perfect! So happy he is here and that all is well. I have 2 1/2 weeks still. It's hard for me to even type that because it seems like forever. What is that all about??? I know she will get here but am feeling VERY ready:)!!! The last weeks take as long as the first 8 months I swear! ha ha! Thank you for checking in! I hope that I can join you soon with being a new mommy! Nothing like it in the world! :). Awwwwwwww!!!!

I love Spring, Love running in Spring, love running!!!  I am excited to have my little babes and be able to run pain free.  At least, I am hoping it happens that way :).  I am grateful to have been able to run this far into my pregnancy but let's be honest.........its so much easier when you don't have a baby inside of you!! Took my older kiddos to piano today and had a bit of time so I took little Jackers to the Benjamin park and decided to do some walking! I was up ALL NIGHT for sure that I was in labor but no such luck!! Very interesting night!!! In any event, I wanted to try and get a little something in so I went to the park and walked/jogged here and there so that I could keep an eye on Jack.  He even came and ran a lap around the park with me (he is a cutie).  I would say I walked half and ran half.  The contractions are getting much more intense when running so it continues to get harder.  Not to mention other areas of my body feeling it also, OUCH!.  Hoping I can hang in there just a little bit longer:)!

My kids are out of school today so we got to sleep in a little later then normal (nice)!! Especially given the fact that I do not sleep at night............at all :).  I know it will all pay off but it's getting a bit tiring.  I got up and decided to just walk on the TM but when I got down there, I decided to run a little also! So, I just stuck with the .5/.5 walk/run option that seems to have carried me through these last several weeks.  I am not going to lie, every day seems to get more painful and harder and I am starting to wonder if my new goal of running up until my delivery will be possible.  It'd sure be nice if she could just get here so that I wouldn't have to keep on going but...............this little girl seems to have a mind of her own already and is keeping me ever so anxious on when she will actually arrive!!!  Time will tell!!!  At least my due date is officially less then 2 weeks away at this point and Hey, at least it's beautiful outside...........that helps :)!

Happy Friday~

Nothing much today! I feel silly even posting it really.................. but, gonna do it anyway:)

I got up, got some work done and waited for it to warm up outside a bit while Ty was out for his long run:).  It was very windy but my boys and I wanted to go for a walk so we suited up and went out! I walked with the dog while they rode their scooters which meant I had to walk a bit faster to keep up with them and then of course, they had to wait for me from time to time! The wind was honestly OUT OF CONTROL and even lifted my poor little doggies feet off of the ground a time or two.  My little 3 year old kept saying "Mom, this isn't fun, can we go home" Sooooooooo, we cut it really short.  At least I tried right??:)  I had intentions to go out later or do some more but just couldn't find the energy so, this is it for the day!

Agggggggg, just had to post the rather silly story behind this MILE that I ran this morning!!!  I am officialy driving myself crazy and DO NOT SLEEP A WINK at night! I wake up at 1:00-2:00 every night and lay awake until getting out of bed at about 7:00ish.  Today is Sunday.........I do not exercise on Sunday but the night was a brutal one and my mind was going crazy! I woke Ty up at 2:00 asking him if he thought I should strap on my shoes and go sprinting up the street?? Of course he was like "Um, No, you can't go running at 2:00 in the morning", but I really just felt like I needed to SPRINT!! Like, in an attempt to run my body into labor or something.  So, after being brought back down to reality, I got up this morning, put on my shoes and went down on the treadmill.  I walked for 2 minutes then sprinted at a 7:15 pace for 4 MINUTES!!!! before walking out the last minutes to reach a WHOLE MILE (I know, impressive).  So, do you think it did anything?? NOPE!! Sure didn't!!! Not so much as even a Braxton Hicks contraction! Honestly!  It sounded so fun to have a little Spring Baby girl on the 1st Day of Spring but just didn't happen.  Oh well, another lesson learned that she is going to come when she is ready!! For now, I need to find a large CHILL PILL and try to get some sleep at night!!!!

PM: Went out for a little walk around the block!!  I am not going to post the mileage but it would have been a bit over a mile.  I kind of like walking around my neighborhood at 10:00-10:30 at night!! Something fun about it:)

You are so FUNNY!!! I hear ya! Babies come when they want to! The fact that you have so much energy is a good sign. Be aware tho when you want to get up in the middle of the night and start to clean house and double check all the nursery stuffs, etc., that means the *nesting* instinct just kicks in, the very next day is when the sweet little baby will be born! :)

I do hope you get some sleep (it's the baby's way to prepare you for many sleepless nights ahead) so you will be able to enjoy the new one when she's finally here!

Oh cute Smooth! It's so good to hear from you:)!!! I miss ya!!!

See, that is just the problem....I would say I have been officially nesting for almost 2 weeks now. I have gotten up several times in the night and done laundry, house cleaning, organizing, etc and.......still no baby! I did yard work on Friday for over 3 hours thinking it would induce something...............nothing!! I clean my house every night before going to bed folding clothes, vacuuming, etc.........nothing!! I have gone through the nursery a dozen time, have every bad packed you can imagine, charged my video camera, got cameras ready, the other night in the middle of the night...and nothing!!! I think my energy is almost starting to give me some anxiety! It's really bizarre and foreign to me! he he!!! SO.......now I am wondering if I should find some sort of CHILL PILL to calm me down! Maybe I need the exact opposite of what typically induces labor!!! I think that may be the ticket:)!!!! Awwww, thanks again for checking in! It's so great to hear from you! You continue to amaze me with how ambitious you are and what a great little runner you are!!! AMAZING!!! Lots of love~

I couldn't seem to find it in me to do anything today!I was up again all night last night (from about 1:00am until 5:30ish) so I couldn't get out of bed and couldn't find the energy to run.  However, the crazy thing is that once I seem to get going, I can't seem to stop and feel FULL of energy.

So, I was just able to get out tonight after 10:00pm for another walk around the neighborhood.  It was probably just barely a mile but nice to get out and walk the dog and have some quiet time:)

Hang in there girl, you're almost there! Are you being induced or going on your own? Your recovery is going to be amazing. I definitely think staying in shape up until delivery speeded mine up to epic proportions.

Thanks Melody!!! I was OH SO Hoping to go on my own. I was induced with my first son and didn't care for it but then went into labor with my 2nd and 3rd and had a much better experience. I went to the Doc yesterday and am finally progressing a bit so if I don't go beforehand, he will induce me on Monday!!! So, at this point, if I dont go, it looks like I will have a baby on March 28th. Again, I am really hoping that I have her before then so that I can go on my own but am starting to think this little girl has a mind of her own and I am very ready to have her here so I don't think I could wait much past Monday waiting for my body to cooperate. Guess we'll see what happens!!! I am still trying to hang in there with running but let's just face the facts......it's painful:)!!! Looking up to you oh so much these days! So, I went to the Doc today and my body is finally progressing!!! If I don't go into labor on my own, he will induce me on Monday!! However, to be honest, I really really hope that I have her before then because I don't want to me induced.  I am a mix of feelings and emotions at this point.  I was induced with my first baby and didn't care for it!! Then, went into labor with my 2nd and 3rd and really actually enjoyed it!! For this reason, I would LOVE to be able to go into labor on my own and should probably just wait to see what my body decides to do but can't bare the thought of going past Monday!! It's so hard here at the end to make sense of things in a pregnant women's brain!!!  So, start sending some positive vibes my way and let's get this little girl here before Monday, how does that sound???

In any event I left the Dr. and came home and jumped on the treadmill! I was hoping to get things going even more so, but.............once again, it didn't happen!! I just walked and ran to get to 3 miles (walked out an extra .25) and then basically paid for it for the rest of the night!! Oh well, only a few more days of it and she will hopefully be here:).  That makes me excited to think about!!!

If you are progressing an ounce or 2 of castor oil did it for me. Mix it in a strong juice ( I used those green drinks) and it will stimulate contraction, it also gives you bad diarrhea for about an hour so stay close to the bathroom if you try this. This got me to a 5 and then she broke my water and I had him 2 hours later.

At this point, I am totally jinxing myself.  As soon as I was done running the contractions basically stopped and so I got ready and went to work!! Happy Boston Marathon!!! I am a bit sad today as I think about my fun trip to Boston last year and the fact that I could actually run a marathon!! BUT, SO HAPPY that I have a beautiful little girl today and that I am at home watching it on TV. To commemorate the event, I decided that I could attempt to run today (baby is 3 weeks old today). I just ran 3 on the TM. It was hard! I guess I expected it to by much easier but it was hard and it hurt! looks like I will be taking it slow for the next few weeks!! It's all good:)~

Ran 6.7, 6.8, 6.9 speed~

Again, I am going to start easing back into running so it's been a few days since my first attempt back at it!! I was sore for a couple of days after Monday which only confirmed that my body is not quite back to PAR! It's okay, I will work with it and take it slow (actually sounds nice right now).  I got to run outside today though and it was SO much better then the TM.  I ran for 2.5 straight then walked .10 and finished the last of it to get to 3.5 (increased a bit from Monday).  It's kind of scary to think how much work I have cut out for me but something that I need to do!!! Averaged 8:38:) I am happy about that~

I got the kids out the door this morning and attempted to run on the TM but our remote won't work downstairs so I couldn't watch TV (I have to be able to switch through channels, etc).  So, I decided to watch a movie and picked "Sweet Home Alabama" as the lucky flick.  I put it in the DVD player and......Disc Error!!! Ugggg.  However, as I messed with the DVD I noticed my strength training disc sitting there and thought.........oooooh, that kind of sounds nice so.............That's what I did:)!!! I am already sore and it's only been 5 hours since I finished the workout.  Guess it's apparent that I haven't worked my muscles for several weeks now:)!! I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!!

Didn't you star in that movie? Or was that your twin sister Reese?

From runningafterbabies on Sat, Apr 30, 2011 at 16:10:19 from 71.195.219.247

I can totally relate, except for the part about finishing the workout. I only lasted 10 minutes... Having babies should make you stronger, not weaker!

From kellies on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 16:43:13 from 63.248.32.185

ha ha ha!! Oh, he he he!! That's a good one Burt! If only I looked like Miss Reese, or better, could make a couple of movies and make millions!!!

Melody: I was thinking the same thing!! I was expecting to be stronger in all sorts of departments however (Physically, emotionally, time wise) and I am failing miserably!! I had so many good intentions of things to accomplish while on maternity leave and haven't done a darn thing:(. What's up with that??? How are you anyway? And how is that sweet baby??

5 mile square for the first time in Months!! I felt a bit better today but the energy is still lagging! Still, I was happy that I didn't stop to walk and even ran the little hill that generally kicks me a little bit!!! I was even more happy when I got home to see that I averaged a 8:29.  This is fast for me so I was pretty happy~

Ran with the Heidi's today! HOORAY!!! Oh how I have missed running with these girls!!! Really............it was so fun to be out with them today!!!  We ran our usual 5 mile square!!! I knew it was going to be a bit harder for me today because I need to learn how to talk and run again (just running consistently without stopping has been hard enough).  I felt pretty good until about 3.5 but then hit a hard patch.  I wanted to run through it to help push myself further so I kept going but let's be honest, I felt like crap.  I was so so happy to finish up to see that we averaged a 8:19AP, WAHOO!!! No wonder I felt like crap!! But these are the times that will make me stronger so I am excited for that! They are doing "Hills" on Wednesday, do I dare attempt???

OUCH!!!! MY first attempt at hills since the Marathon last year!!! Oh the Heidi's are going to have me whipped into shape in NO time at this route!! Yes, it was hard and I did not enjoy it but just have to remember that this is "good training" (A motto that has gotten me through many tough times before).  AP: 8:47

Attempted to run New Leaf again with Heidi C this morning but got started later and it was HOT!!! I am not sure what my problem was this morning but I was out of gas before I started. I think it was a combination of living off of Caffeine Free Diet Coke and neglecting to drink water combined with nursing before I left and forgetting to drink at all! I felt Completely Dehydrated!!! So, it was brutal and we stopped and walked a couple of times but at least ran I guess.  I need to increase my H20 SEVERELY!!! AP 8:47

Physique 57 today!!! I did almost the full workout but WOW, it kicked my butt, literally! I need to do this once a week.  I can feel it in my arms and abs (of course) especially!!!  This getting older, having a harder time recovering from babies, is for the birds!!!!

I got to run long today because we are heading up to Ogden tonight for the half marathon (Ty is running) tomorrow so I won't get to run.  My baby girl must have sensed it because she slept from 10:15 until 5:30 this morning (7hrs and 15 minutes), HOORAY!! What a good little girl!!

I am a bit torn with my feelings right now! Ogden is my absolute FAVORITE half marathon EVER and so I wish I were running it!! And, if I had known I'd be running 10'ish miles at this point, I probably would have signed up for it, BUT........I am also SO SO SO excited to be at the finish line to rally in my hubby and to let my kiddos see him also!!! Not to mention I am in NO WAY, SHAPE or Form ready to have a sitter for my little girly yet, so, I am feeling good about my choice even if the next year of waiting will kill me:)!!! No, it's all good!!!

Today's run was a good one! We just ran out and back and enjoyed a couple of nice walk breaks also!! I am starting to feel much better when running so I hope that it's coming back! Yes, I still need to work tremendously on the speed factor but am enjoying running right now just the way it is! No stress:)!!!  Right?????

Thanks Lily!! Why does running add so much pressure to the already extreme pressure we have on ourselves?? Not sure why that is the case but........it is!!! I am just going to keep taking it one day at a time!:) I hope that "what I am doing" is enough!! Guess time will tell! Thanks again! Have a great day today~ Hope all is well~
